Skye Jordan: Reckless

Title: Reckless
Author: Skye Jordan
Series: Renegades #1
Release Date: August 23, 2013

My Rating: 4.5 Stars

Synopsis:
A couture wedding dress designer to the rich and famous, Lexi LaCroix’s image means everything. But crossing paths with a sexier-than-sin, bad-boy biker makes Lexi realize how much living she’s sacrificed for her success and one touch is all it takes to threaten her carefully choreographed life. When that touch fills far more than just Lexi’s physical needs, she finds herself torn between the career she needs and the bad-boy she craves.

Jax Chamberlin gave up the superficial life of acting for the thrill of running his own stunt company years ago. But a recent betrayal proves he’s still too close to the limelight to find a woman who doesn’t plan to use him as a stepping-stone to success. When the charming and mysterious Lexi offers him a totally anonymous hook-up during an out of town trip, Jax accepts. Only Lexi is more sextacular than charming, and Jax wants more.

But Lexi’s got a major hang-up over his renegade lifestyle, and Jax isn’t willing to change his ways. Especially not when he discovers who she really is. Because if she finds out his connections could catapult her to the top of her career, he’s afraid the fantasy woman he’s falling for might just end up like all the other gold-diggers. And this time, it’s not just his bad-boy reputation at risk, but his heart, too.

My Review:
Oh Ms. Jordan sure blindsided me with this little gem. One question though: Can I have Jax? Pretty please? That man just shot to the top of my book boyfriend list for this year! I love bad boys, they tend to be my favorite :) Okay, let's get into some semblance of order. First off, Reckless is hot! Skye Jordan was able to create a raw, sensual connection between Jax and Lexi, that made this book truly amazing. Jax was a refreshing step away from the typical "do as I say" alpha male, and he isn't afraid to have meaningful conversations or a hot romp in the sack. The beginning of Jax and Lexi's relationship has to be the most inventive concept I've ever read. I won't spoil it, but I LOVED it and it was quite hilarious!

Jax and Lexi are both a little gun-shy when it comes to relationships. They've both been burned, and are not quite ready to take that first step again. Once they do though, I was surprised the bed sheets didn't go up in flames. It is easy for them to forget the real world when they are together and for a time they can just be two people who are happy for once. Peculiar enough Jax did not actually know Lexi's identity or see her face for the first half of the book. It was a clever plot, because once Jax saw her he accuses her of wanting something from him. So readers get a taste of how their identities change the dynamic of their relationship. Lexi on the other hand has a big deal pending with her designer dresses and does not want to attract the bad press that comes along with dating a stuntman. As you can see they both have, for lack of a better term, "issues" to deal with.

Jax gets past hesitation much earlier, but circumstances cause Lexi's to linger. I think Lexi has begun to confuse happiness and success, but Jax comes along and the lines are no longer blurred. When Jax and Lexi are together they are the epitome of Reckless and in the end choose their love and passion over their livelihoods. What they didn't know is that it was never one or the other, they just needed the perfect partner to help them achieve there greatest potential. In short, Lexi and Jax become each other's muses. This book was not the norm. It didn't follow a formula that I have read a dozen times before. Ms. Jordan brought us such an engaging story that was well developed, which is something I don't see on a constant basis anymore. Reckless is a fantastic read and I cannot wait for the rest of the Renegades stories! I have to say thank to Skye Jordan for writing such an amazing and wonderful story!
