Have you ever felt like you were living your life for a future that was predetermined? Like there was some bigger picture you just prayed you would someday see clearly? That picture has been crystal clear to me since I was old enough to recognize it for just what it was.

Or I should say recognize him for who he was.

I’ve loved Cohen Cage since I was a small child. He’s been my everything for the last twenty-two years. I’ve loved him through every girlfriend he’s ever brought home. Through his college years and then mine. I’ve loved him through two deployments. And ever since the day I told him how I felt, he’s acted like I’m a stranger.

My name is Danielle Reid, and it’s time for me to get my man.

Our future is an unexpected fate, and no matter what our parents, siblings, and friends say…it’s going to be worth every second of the fight to make it happen.
I have a confession to make, this is this first Harper Sloan book that I've read... Do NOT yell at me!! I've had the others on my Kindle app for so long I just haven't found the time, but holy hell I'm clearing my schedule and I'll be devoted to the big bad men of Corps Security for the foreseeable future! This book simply blew my mind. Screwed with my emotions, broke my heart (put it back together again) and in general set higher standards for future books that I will read. The book is one in a new trend of second generation love. If you all thought I loved second chance love, second generation love, where the parents of the hero and heroine have already had their love stories told, just gives me the absolute warm fuzzies. I don't know why. I could possibly be a very odd bird, but I LOVE it.

Cohen is following in his father's (Greg Cage) footsteps and is in the special ops division of the Marines. He's grown up in a very tight knit family with tons of pseudo aunts, uncles and cousins. Although the one girl that's never felt anywhere near blood related, Dani Reed, has now taken strides in her own hands and isn't letting the tension rise any further. Either Cohen makes a move or she's moving on. In the last night before his deployment they give into the the passion and lust, and yes, love. Yet, Cohen can't even begin to understand what he's leaving behind. Heartbreak, danger, an unbelievable secret, and a whole host of family members demanding an explanation from Dani when she has no choice but to tell of their secret relationship they vowed to continue when he returned. And if you thought it was going to be all sunshine and roses when Cohen walked back through her door, everyone was sadly mistaken.

These two go through hell and back for their love. Against their families, against unknown evils, against everything in their path they persevere in the hottest, and loveliest ways. Cohen is just a dirty talking hunk with the biggest heart. And Dani.. well she's a bad a**. I'll admit, she had a moment here and there when Cohen left that I was about iffy of how she was going to handle things, but when it came down to the wire she's just the best heroine. Then we get to the parts with the two of them together and I'll try not to lose my sh*t while talking about it. They're passion, heart-melting envy. Not many books have ever evoked the array of emotions and gut wrenching feels this book has. It's definitely one of a kind and Harper Sloan beasted and took every advantage with this book. Talk about performing at the top of her game. And side note- I've already listened to Axel on audio since reading this book... she wrote that book just as splendidly. Harper Sloan has quite possibly ruined me for a lot of my favorite authors. I'll be off reveling the in the hot mass of Corps Security men and you better get a jump on this book, because IT. IS. SUBLIME!

Meet Harper:
Harper lives in small town Georgia just a short drive from her hometown of Peachtree City. She (and her 3 daughters) enjoy ruling the house they dubbed 'Estrogen Ocean', much to her husband’s chagrin. Harper has a borderline unhealthy obsession with books; you can almost ALWAYS find her with her eReader attached. She enjoys bad reality TV and cheesy romantic flicks. Her favorite kind of hero--the super alpha kind!

Harper started using writing as a way to unwind when the house went to sleep at night; and with a house full of crazy it was the perfect way to just relax. It didn't take long before a head full of very demanding alphas would stop at nothing to have their story told.
