Sofia

I knew little of Raphael Amado’s history with my family, but when he turned up on our doorstep demanding restitution, my grandfather quickly conceded. That restitution? Me.

Six months later, on my eighteenth birthday, Raphael came for me. He stole me from my home, taking me to his Tuscan estate, where from the crumbling chapel to the burnt-down vineyard, to the cellar that haunted him, the past stalked him like a shadow. It waited for him, hid behind corners for him and trapped him at every turn.

As much as Raphael’s cruelty terrified me, his darkness seduced me. But in the end, it was his tenderness that devastated me.

Raphael

Sofia came to me like an offering. Like a virgin to be sacrificed at the altar. But truth was, her grandfather betrayed her. I guess we had that in common. He’d screwed me too.

I knew hate. I'd vowed vengeance. This was never supposed to be about anything else. But in the end, her innocence broke me. The very thing I would destroy, destroyed me.
This book was surprisingly exactly what I needed when I read it. It's a little dark, a lot emotional, and really turned my reader brain on its axis. I didn't know who I wanted to love or hate. Sofia and Raphael, both have good traits and bad traits, but that makes them REAL. Tangible. And enabled Natasha Knight to give me a book I reveled in and needed more of. Dishonorable toes the proverbial line for me, but I loved it. Every reader has a line that says: "no, that's too much." It went there, it flirted with going too far (for my comfort zone) but it never really made the leap, and it did all of this while offering up a delectable story that wasn't all hot men with lots of money to swoon over. No, it's Raphael and Sofia fighting for what they don't want, but what they desperately need, and find out they want. That's was wordy, but I hope you followed it. The gist is, Sofia and Raphael were not in each others futures, so they fought this commingling with every fiber of their beings, but when they finally, blissfully, gave in, it was saccharin sweet, and naughty, and dirty, and delicious. Need I go on? I think not.

This is my first book of Natasha Knight's and I can positively say that it will not be my last. Sofia and Raphael will be hard to top, but the little glimpses of Lina and Damon's (hopeful) story has completely hooked me and I need it! But for now, I'm going to go re-read a few of these darkly erotic scenes with Raphael and Sofia and wait not so patiently for more from Natasha Knight!

Happy Reading!
